REGISTRATION INFORMATION from Ed Watkins:
The costs may seem high to those who have not been back in a while or who never had attended a Reunion. The Reunion Committees have no say over pricing. However, the meal prices are competitive for the area and the on campus lodging cost is a bargain. While it is recommended that you take most of your meals on campus, there are some off campus options for breakfast and dinner. But the less time you spend on the Hill the less time you have to catch up with classmates and enjoy the beauty of the campus.
Yes, you may stay on campus. The rooms are a bit spartan though better than Dunham. The dorms intended for our use are Ferguson (formerly DU) and Skenandoa (formerly PsiU). Ferguson has shared bathrooms, every two rooms share a bath while Skenandoa has rooms with baths and AC. DU is very centrally located to most Reunion events. Skenandoa is further down the Hill and you will get plenty of exercise if you stay there. The College runs a "taxi" service with golf carts so if you need a ride around campus you can get one.
If you are done with dorm life there are hotels nearby. Details are listed below. Cathy and I have stayed at the Hampton Inn many times and it is fine for a long weekend.
Here is a quick summary of events before you register:
June 5 - Wednesday afternoon - Utica Day optional excursions open to all
June 6 - Thurs morning/lunch - Utica Day optional excursions open to all
June 6 - Thursday 50th Class Welcome Day - Please plan to arrive to the Hill by afternoon
The College recommends that you select the following Reunion meals:
June 6 - Thursday Evening - 50th HK Class Medallion Ceremony and reception/dinner with President David Wippman
June 7 - Friday 50th HK Class lunch with guest speaker Professor Isserman
June 7 - Friday evening - Various dinners and All Kirkland dinner.
The Psi U and DU alumni are having dinners on campus which are open to all classmates.
June 8 - Saturday - 50th Reunion HK Class dinner
June 9 - Sunday - Breakfast or Brunch
The above are the main paid events for the 50th Class. These are catered and advanced headcount is important.
Full Reunion schedule of events will come at a later time.
Housing: If you are staying on campus, which we recommend, 50th Alumni will be housed together in residence halls as much as possible with priority. Many rooms, but not all, will have ensuite bathrooms.
If you have special requests (mobility concerns, a specific dorm), please add to the registration.
Kirkland alumnae will be housed together on the Kirkland side of campus.
The dorms will be open to the 50th Class only on Wed night if you intend to attend the Utica Day events.
If you need help with area hotels and B&Bs, please look here. Book now for Reunion weekend. Many alumni stay in the Hampton Inn and/or the Homewood Suites by Hilton in New Hartford NY. They are 15 minutes from the campus.
